In a recent article by Sporting Life UK, Manny Pacquiao's Coach, Freddie Roach is quoted saying that after the Ricky Hatton fight set for May 2nd, they are not interested in their next being against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Roach's reasoning for not wanting to fight Mayweather Jr. next is because he feels Mayweather Jr. would be a "boring fight." Roach would like to see the best fighters fighting due to competition from other sports, but feels even if they do fight and beat Mayweather Jr., they won't look good doing so.
Quoted by Sporting Life UK, Roach stated: "We need the best fighters fighting each other because of other sports competing with us. If we win (beat Hatton) I don't have a lot of interest in fighting Mayweather. Even if you beat him you look bad doing it."
Although Roach considers Mayweather Jr. a skillful boxer, he doesn't like his style and feels he is a runner inside the ring. Roach did not fully come out and say they would never fight Mayweather Jr... just that he won't be next for Pacquiao after Hatton. read more
